Responsibilities
- Perform in-depth analysis of commercial loan requests - reviewing financial statements, tax returns, cash flow, and credit reports to determine repayment ability and overall creditworthiness.
- Evaluate collateral, including appraisals, title reports, leases, and other supporting documentation to ensure adequate loan security.
- Use your expertise to assess risk through detailed financial modeling, ratio analysis, projections, and stress testing.
- Review legal and organizational documents, ensure loan documentation accuracy, and support loan officers with ongoing portfolio management, including annual reviews.
- Take a leadership role by supporting underwriting staff, providing training and guidance, and assisting with complex or high-value credit relationships.
- Stay up to date on lending policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices ensuring compliance and consistent decision-making across the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience in commercial underwriting or credit analysis
- Strong analytical, financial modeling, and decision-making skills
- In-depth knowledge of commercial lending, credit evaluation, and loan structuring
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence and guide others
- Familiarity with lending regulations and compliance requirements, including fair credit practices
- Able to manage multiple priorities and work effectively across all levels of the organization
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and lending systems
