Responsibilities

  • Perform in-depth analysis of commercial loan requests - reviewing financial statements, tax returns, cash flow, and credit reports to determine repayment ability and overall creditworthiness.
  • Evaluate collateral, including appraisals, title reports, leases, and other supporting documentation to ensure adequate loan security.
  • Use your expertise to assess risk through detailed financial modeling, ratio analysis, projections, and stress testing.
  • Review legal and organizational documents, ensure loan documentation accuracy, and support loan officers with ongoing portfolio management, including annual reviews.
  • Take a leadership role by supporting underwriting staff, providing training and guidance, and assisting with complex or high-value credit relationships.
  • Stay up to date on lending policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices ensuring compliance and consistent decision-making across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial underwriting or credit analysis
  • Strong analytical, financial modeling, and decision-making skills
  • In-depth knowledge of commercial lending, credit evaluation, and loan structuring
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence and guide others
  • Familiarity with lending regulations and compliance requirements, including fair credit practices
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and work effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and lending systems
