About the Role
The Senior Account Manager assists in the production of new and renewal accounts, aligning with agency and individual producer goals. This role provides field service support for producer activities and maintains high service standards.
Responsibilities
- Market, service, develop, and retain assigned accounts to meet account development, retention objectives, and targeted business mix under underwriting guidelines and volume commitments.
- Obtain renewal information, complete applications, secure markets, deliver policies, coordinate loss control or other services, and resolve service issues.
- Retain and develop accounts by recommending risk-handling strategies to Producers and/or Customers; seek cost-effective insurance coverages, prepare proposals, evaluate additional coverage lines, and provide client resources.
- Negotiate with insurance companies for optimal coverage options.
- Assist Producers in preparing and presenting insurance programs to key accounts and prospects.
- Perform transactions and maintain client files using the agency management system.
- Request renewals, endorsements, and other data from companies and insureds; collaborate with Producers and Account Executives to issue coverage efficiently and bind coverage within Agency Underwriting Authority.
- Review new and renewal policies, endorsements, audits, and cancellations for accuracy in rating, coverage, and signatures; input transactions to generate billing invoices and maintain orderly files.
- Prepare Stewardship reports as needed.
- Independently create renewal proposals and conduct renewal meetings with customers on behalf of the Producer.
- Review all activities involving the public, customers, and companies to mitigate errors and omissions risks.
- Refer clients to the Employee Benefits and Personal Insurance Departments for additional lines of business.
- Participate in seminars and training to maintain licenses and enhance knowledge and skills.
Requirements
- 5-7 years of insurance experience, with a focus on commercial lines, surety coverages, underwriting, and marketing/rating preferred.
- Possession of, or ability to quickly obtain, all state-required insurance licenses.
- College degree, CPCU, or CIC designations preferred.
- Proven experience working with mid-size to large commercial lines customers preferred.
Skills
- Strong PC skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams) and agency management systems.
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to influence others.

Working Conditions
- Fast-paced, multi-tasking office environment with periodic high disruption and changing priorities.
- Approximately 80% sedentary work, occasionally exerting up to 10 pounds of force; negligible force frequently.
- Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds.
- Requires operation of a computer workstation, including keyboard and video display.
