About the role
The Commercial Lines Senior Account Manager will provide professional, courteous account management and brokerage services to assigned clients and will have primary responsibility for account strategy, relationship, and retention. This role positively impacts customer satisfaction and client retention by delivering the highest level of support to producers, clients, carrier representatives, business partners, and HUB colleagues. Account management expertise will support organic growth goals through maintaining and expanding business, including account rounding, cross-selling, and development of new business.
Responsibilities
- Leads all aspects of local and/or regional large account client service, marketing, and renewal of the assigned book of business
- Acquires understanding of clients’ business and insurance objectives; critically analyzes and compares insurance plans and HUB services to determine suitability for additional opportunities; assesses client risk to ensure no coverage gaps exist
- Leads resolution of escalated complex service issues between clients and insurance carriers requiring policy interpretation and experience-based judgment
- Manages, organizes, and conducts client meetings in coordination with producers on assigned accounts and independently where no producer is assigned
- Assists in the development and execution of client service agreements
- Identifies and executes critical path work for clients, including cross-sell and up-sell opportunities for HUB products and services
- Initiates and supports the development of new business revenue
- Negotiates terms, conditions, and pricing directly with insurance carriers except when centralized placement is the norm
- Possesses detailed knowledge of the client’s business and industry, articulating applicable exposures to loss, insurance coverages, and risk management solutions
- Develops strong professional relationships with insurance carrier marketing, underwriting, and risk control staff, including familiarity with each carrier’s products and services
- Directly oversees and coordinates delivery of all HUB services to assigned clients throughout the policy cycle, including stewardship reports, risk control services, carrier meetings, claims reviews, coverage outlines, contract review, and marketing of emergent and renewal coverage requests
- Supports, mentors, and develops more junior account service team members
- Travels for client meetings between 25–50% of the time
Requirements
- College degree preferred
- 5–7 years of applicable insurance/agency experience
- Experience influencing C-level executives
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Detail-oriented self-starter with strong leadership, mentoring, and team-building skills
- Significant skill in handling competing demands and projects
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and delegate responsibility
- Mastery of virtual technology, including meeting scheduling, video display, and screen sharing
- Relevant insurance licenses per state/regional statutes
- Advanced professional designation highly desirable (e.g., AIC, AAI, ARM, CIC, CPCU)
