About the role

We are partnering with a large, nationally recognized insurance brokerage and consulting organization to identify a Commercial Lines Assistant Account Manager to support its specialty insurance practice. This firm operates across specialized industry platforms and local offices, delivering tailored risk management and insurance solutions through innovative strategies and high-touch client service. This role supports Producers and the service team in managing existing commercial insurance accounts and assisting with new business initiatives.

Job Description

  • Packaging and marketing insurance applications to carriers to obtain competitive quotes
  • Aiding in negotiating pricing, commissions, and coverage terms with carriers
  • Reviewing insurance policies, identifying coverage gaps, and recommending appropriate solutions
  • Managing the renewal process for expiring policies
  • Reviewing client accounting history, responding to billing inquiries, and helping resolve discrepancies, including assisting with collections on past-due accounts
  • Binding insurance coverage and preparing binders
  • Aiding in client presentations and proposal preparation
  • Gathering and compiling underwriting information for applications
  • Researching and responding to underwriting inquiries
  • Drafting correspondence to clients and insurance carriers
  • Entering applications and preparing letters, certificates, and other documentation
  • Preparing draft certificate templates for internal review and approval
  • Analyzing certificate requests to ensure compliance with client and contractual requirements
  • Maintaining accurate records in the agency management system, following data integrity standards
  • Providing general administrative and account support as needed

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 4–6 years of experience in commercial insurance or a related role
  • Active P & C insurance license
  • Ability to maintain continuing education requirements for license renewal
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service and client interaction skills
  • Effective problem-solving, organization, and time-management abilities
  • Intermediate typing skills (approximately 30–35 WPM)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment

Preferred Experience

  • Supporting commercial lines producers or service teams
  • Prior hands-on experience with binders, certificates, policy updates, and renewal documentation
  • Familiarity with agency management systems
