Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and client-focused Commercial Lines Account Manager to manage and retain a portfolio of commercial insurance accounts while delivering exceptional service and support. This role is responsible for overseeing client relationships, supporting renewals and remarketing efforts, managing policy servicing activities, and collaborating with Producers to ensure clients receive appropriate coverage solutions. The ideal candidate is proactive, highly organized, and experienced in servicing middle and large market commercial accounts within a fast-paced insurance environment. This position plays a key role in supporting client retention, account growth, and overall service excellence.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Deliver responsive, high-quality service while building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, Producers, carrier partners, and internal team members.
  • Proactively service commercial accounts by addressing client concerns, responding to requests, and providing consultative support in a professional and timely manner.
  • Pre-qualify new business opportunities in accordance with agency guidelines.
  • Process policy servicing activities including new business, endorsements, cancellations, registry transactions, binders, certificates, policies, and related documentation.
  • Support renewal and remarketing processes by evaluating exposures, coordinating with clients and Producers, and ensuring appropriate carrier placement and coverage recommendations.
  • Educate clients on insurance coverages, exclusions, exposures, and audit procedures while maintaining thorough documentation within agency systems.
  • Provide technical support to Producers related to coverage analysis, renewal proposals, suspense items, and account servicing needs.
  • Complete the application and submission process, including preparing proposals and applications, obtaining signatures, submitting documentation to insureds and carriers, and ensuring timely follow-up.
  • Review interim audit reports for accuracy and assist clients through audit-related processes.
  • Respond to incoming and outgoing client, carrier, and internal communications professionally, accurately, and within expected timelines.
  • Maintain accurate and consistent documentation within agency systems and electronic files in accordance with agency standards.
  • Take first reports of loss, coordinate carrier reporting, assign adjusters when appropriate, and document claim-related activity for internal claims handling teams.
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities and refer clients to other departments when appropriate.
  • Address complex or escalated client situations with a consultative approach while collaborating with internal stakeholders to support timely resolution.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support operational efficiency, retention goals, and an exceptional client experience.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • 3+ years of Property & Casualty account management experience or 4+ years of commercial lines insurance industry experience required.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • An active Property & Casualty insurance license required or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.
  • Professional designations such as CIC, CPCU, MAIA, or similar preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and related business systems required.
  • A strong understanding of commercial insurance coverages, policy servicing, renewal processes, and carrier relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain insurance concepts clearly and professionally.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • The ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with clients, carriers, Producers, and internal teams.
  • A commitment to delivering exceptional client service in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
