Job Summary

Account Managers serve as primary points of contact for clients, handling routine responsibilities and developing coverage strategies. They are individual contributors who apply insurance principles to everyday situations and may receive occasional guidance or supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Service assigned accounts, including account transactions such as quoting and issuing policies, ID cards, proposals, endorsements, certificates, claims, renewals, follow-ups, and correspondence.
  • Respond to client inquiries, incoming mail, and company requests in a timely manner.
  • Support insurance marketing and sales efforts.
  • Collect renewal data on assigned accounts.
  • Provide claims support.
  • Develop coverage strategies and plans as necessary.
  • Review new and renewal policies and endorsements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain accurate client data in agency management systems (Applied Systems / EPIC).
  • Document all activities in agency management systems (Applied Systems / EPIC).
  • Understand and utilize upload, download, and interface technology.
  • Assist other departments in securing and providing information necessary to issue appropriate policies for mutual clients.
  • Keep producers informed of important account activities and potential issues.
  • Stay current with industry trends through participation in educational seminars and classes to improve insurance and sales skills and maintain license compliance.
  • Maintain knowledge of current underwriting requirements of contracted insurance carriers.
  • Maintain knowledge of policy provisions and any changes to these provisions.
  • Complete other assigned functions and backup duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Active Property & Casualty License required.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and take initiative.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Mathematical skills: ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, premiums, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
  • Reasoning skills: ability to solve practical problems, interpret instructions, and handle various variables presented in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Applied Systems / EPIC experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge and application of insurance principles to everyday situations.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in commercial lines.
  • Completion of CPCU or special training courses is a plus.
  • Candidates should be comfortable with an on-site presence to support collaboration, team leadership, and cross-functional partnership.
