Commercial Kitchen Refrigeration Technician

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair most standard refrigeration units for commercial customers such as reach-in coolers and freezers, beverage dispensers, walk-in coolers and freezers and rack units.
  • Diagnose and repair electronic, mechanical, and electrical components of the commercial refrigeration systems.
  • Trips to job sites in assigned service area and works with assigned Dispatcher(s) to ensure schedule is maintained and delays are properly communicated to customers.
  • Maintains good working order of company vehicle, including cleaning and organizing, and washing vehicle a minimum of once per week.
  • Maintains proper stock, parts, tools, and safety equipment upon arrival, including make, model, serial number, type of fuel, and pictures as necessary.
  • Documents details of services and parts provided to customers electronically through company-provided cell phone and/or iPad applications.
  • Diagnoses a variety of service issues, obtains necessary replacement parts, calibrates systems according to manufacturer specifications, and clearly communicates the issue(s) and recommended solutions to the client.
  • Participates in company-provided training opportunities and adheres to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Identifies and reports potential opportunities for additional business to management.
  • Follows all environmental regulations, including the handling and disposal of refrigerants, in accordance with EPA guidelines.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of refrigeration, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Proficient in reading schematics, work plans, and using diagnostic tools, refrigerant recovery equipment, and specialized instruments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Advanced understanding of air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration principles.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Highly dependable and consistent in delivering quality work.
  • Enthusiastic, with strong integrity, craftsmanship, and a positive attitude.
  • Basic computer skills for communication and documentation using iPads and/or cell phones.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Ability to travel to assigned client sites.
  • Commitment to delivering high levels of customer service consistently.
