Commercial Inspector

About the role

SAFEbuilt is seeking a dedicated and experienced Building Official to oversee all aspects of building department services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction codes, zoning regulations, and building inspections.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve building plans according to local codes and regulations
• Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with building codes and safety standards
• Enforce zoning laws and building codes to prevent non-compliance
• Issue permits and maintain records of approved projects
• Provide technical guidance to developers and contractors
• Respond to complaints and inquiries related to building code violations
• Keep abreast of changes in building codes and regulations

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in building inspection or related field
• Knowledge of local building codes and zoning regulations
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Qualifications

• Experience with building permit processing and record keeping
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD) software
• Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds

Pay

Salary range: $70,000 - $90,000 annually
