Responsibilities
The primary purpose of this position is to service, maintain, and repair most commercial HVAC systems. The principal duties and responsibilities include:
- Following and adhering to all company safety requirements and processes
- Servicing, performing maintenance on, and repairing most commercial HVAC systems, including DX equipment, packaged units, water-source heat pumps, and gas-fired and electric heating systems
- Performing general maintenance on chilled- and hot-water piping and pumping systems and associated equipment
- Diagnosing malfunctioning equipment accurately and bringing questionable situations to the immediate supervisor’s attention
- Replacing or adjusting defective or worn parts to repair systems
- Starting systems, observing operation, reading gauges and instruments, and adjusting mechanisms to control levels of fluid, pressure, and temperature
- Inspecting, adjusting, and replacing fan belts on motors, lubricating bearings, and drilling holes and installing mounting brackets and hangers
- Assisting more senior service technicians as instructed by supervisor
- Submitting labor hours worked, work descriptions, and daily safety reports
- Communicating with customers daily and submitting time and material quotes to the office
Requirements
The following requirements must be met:
- High school graduate and/or GED
- Trade school graduate and 2-5+ years related experience
- Universal Refrigerant Card
- WV or VA tradesman certification (or actively obtaining)
- OSHA 10-Hour Certification (minimum)

- Understanding of single and three-phase electrical systems
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Flexibility to adjust to change, effectively work under pressure, and meet deadlines
- Ability to work on a team and interact with people
- Effective communication skills, verbal and written
- Ability to adjust focus for reading screens, monitors, and controls, and have color vision
