Responsibilities

The primary purpose of this position is to service, maintain, and repair most commercial HVAC systems. The principal duties and responsibilities include:

  • Following and adhering to all company safety requirements and processes
  • Servicing, performing maintenance on, and repairing most commercial HVAC systems, including DX equipment, packaged units, water-source heat pumps, and gas-fired and electric heating systems
  • Performing general maintenance on chilled- and hot-water piping and pumping systems and associated equipment
  • Diagnosing malfunctioning equipment accurately and bringing questionable situations to the immediate supervisor’s attention
  • Replacing or adjusting defective or worn parts to repair systems
  • Starting systems, observing operation, reading gauges and instruments, and adjusting mechanisms to control levels of fluid, pressure, and temperature
  • Inspecting, adjusting, and replacing fan belts on motors, lubricating bearings, and drilling holes and installing mounting brackets and hangers
  • Assisting more senior service technicians as instructed by supervisor
  • Submitting labor hours worked, work descriptions, and daily safety reports
  • Communicating with customers daily and submitting time and material quotes to the office

Requirements

The following requirements must be met:

  • High school graduate and/or GED
  • Trade school graduate and 2-5+ years related experience
  • Universal Refrigerant Card
  • WV or VA tradesman certification (or actively obtaining)
  • OSHA 10-Hour Certification (minimum)

  • Understanding of single and three-phase electrical systems
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Flexibility to adjust to change, effectively work under pressure, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work on a team and interact with people
  • Effective communication skills, verbal and written
  • Ability to adjust focus for reading screens, monitors, and controls, and have color vision
