ColdTech Refrigeration provides commercial HVAC, refrigeration, boiler, chiller, and preventative maintenance services to restaurants, healthcare facilities, industrial customers, supermarkets, schools, convenience stores, and other commercial customers throughout Idaho and beyond.

About the role

This is a service-focused opportunity for technicians who enjoy troubleshooting complex equipment, solving problems in the field, and taking pride in getting the job done right. Our strongest candidates will have hands-on experience with commercial chillers, boilers, refrigeration rack systems, and commercial HVAC/refrigeration equipment.

Whether you're an experienced service technician or an apprentice looking to build your career, we offer a structured advancement path from Level 1 Apprentice through Level 5 Master Service Technician.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, maintain, and service a wide range of commercial equipment, with a strong emphasis on:
  • Commercial refrigeration rack systems
  • Chillers
  • Boilers
  • Commercial HVAC systems
  • Walk-in coolers and freezers
  • Reach-in refrigeration
  • Rooftop units (RTUs)
  • VRF systems
  • Ice machines
  • Electrical controls and troubleshooting
  • Equipment start-ups and commissioning
  • Preventative maintenance
  • Emergency and after-hours service

Requirements

  • Strong commercial HVAC and/or refrigeration service experience
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting chillers, boilers, or refrigeration rack systems
  • Ability to diagnose equipment problems and determine the appropriate repair
  • Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Take ownership and accountability for assigned service calls
  • Communicate professionally with customers and coworkers
  • Document work accurately and thoroughly

Qualifications

Certifications & Licensing

  • EPA Section 608 Certification – Required
  • Current Idaho HVAC Apprentice Registration OR Idaho HVAC Journeyman License – Required
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Must be insurable under the company's vehicle insurance policy

Technical Qualifications

  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to safely lift and carry up to 75 pounds

Pay

$20.00–$60.00 per hour, based on experience, certifications, technical ability, and overall performance.

$5,000 sign-on bonus for technicians with 4+ years of relevant experience and $2,500 for technicians with 1–4 years of relevant experience.

Technician Career Levels

  • Level 1 – Apprentice: $20.00–$26.00/hr
  • Level 2 – Service Technician I: $27.00–$35.00/hr
  • Level 3 – Service Technician II: $36.00–$45.00/hr
  • Level 4 – Senior Service Technician: $46.00–$52.00/hr
  • Level 5 – Master Service Technician: $52.00–$60.00/hr

Employment Requirements

  • Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening
  • Successfully pass a comprehensive criminal background check
  • Successfully pass a motor vehicle record (MVR) review
  • Maintain an acceptable driving record

Physical Requirements

  • Lift and carry up to 75 pounds
  • Work from ladders, rooftops, aerial lifts, and scaffolding
  • Work in confined spaces
  • Work safely in varying weather conditions throughout the year
