Position Overview

We are looking for a Commercial Flooring Estimator / Pre-Construction Coordinator to join our remote estimating team.

  • The primary focus of this role will be producing highly accurate commercial flooring takeoffs from architectural drawings and project specifications.
  • Initially, the candidate will focus almost exclusively on quantity takeoffs while learning the company’s estimating process and quality standards.
  • As confidence and proficiency increase, responsibilities will gradually expand into pricing support, product submittals, and additional pre-construction responsibilities.
  • This is primarily an internal position with very limited client interaction.

Professional Background & Requirements

  • Commercial Flooring Estimating Experience: Previous experience performing quantity takeoffs for commercial flooring projects is required.

  • Blueprint Interpretation: Strong ability to accurately read and interpret architectural drawings, project plans, specifications, finish schedules, and construction documents.

  • Commercial Construction Knowledge: Understanding of commercial flooring materials, installation methods, and construction terminology.

  • Professional English: Strong verbal and written English skills to communicate effectively with the internal team and occasionally participate in project-related meetings.

  • High Attention to Detail: Ability to identify notes, addendums, specifications, and project requirements without overlooking critical information.

  • Quality-Focused Mindset: Accuracy is significantly more important than speed. The ideal candidate consistently delivers precise work with minimal errors.

  • Self-Motivated: Takes ownership of assigned work, enjoys learning, accepts feedback well, and does not require constant supervision.

  • Strong Organizational Skills: Able to manage multiple projects, revisions, drawings, and documentation in an organized manner.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Callidus Estimating Software.

  • Experience with RFMS Measure, Measure Square, or similar flooring estimating software.

  • Experience preparing product submittals.

  • Previous experience in commercial pre-construction.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Receive assigned commercial flooring projects from the estimating team.
  • Access project documentation through BuildingConnected or other project management platforms.
  • Download and organize architectural drawings and project documentation.
  • Review plans, specifications, finish schedules, notes, and addendums.
  • Complete accurate digital flooring quantity takeoffs.
  • Prepare material recap sheets in Microsoft Excel.
  • Organize quantities by floor, room, and material type.
  • Review all project notes to ensure nothing is missed before submitting completed work.
  • Rewire revisions whenever project addendums or drawing revisions are issued.
  • Upload completed takeoffs for internal review.
  • Collaborate with senior estimators to ensure company quality standards are met.

Growth Path

  • The first several weeks will focus on learning the company’s estimating process, software, and quality expectations.
  • As proficiency is demonstrated, responsibilities will gradually expand into:
  • Project pricing
  • Material selection support
  • Product submittals
  • Pre-construction documentation
  • Additional estimating responsibilities

Software & Technical Requirements

  • Candidates should have experience with, or the ability to quickly learn:
  • Callidus Estimating Software (Preferred)
  • RFMS Measure
  • Measure Square
  • Microsoft Excel (Advanced)
  • PDF markup and blueprint review software
  • BuildingConnected (Preferred but not required)
