Ace Electric is seeking qualified Electricians local to the Columbus, Ohio region for projects in New Albany, Ohio.

About the role

The Electrician reports to a Superintendent or designated lead to perform electrical installation, alterations, additions, and repairs in commercial or industrial settings. The role involves meeting productivity goals, coordinating with other trades, and ensuring work adheres to project plans, specifications, and company safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Ace Electric’s Safety Program.
  • Install electrical work in accordance with Ace Electric Standards, project plans, and specifications.
  • Coordinate installations with other construction trades.
  • Perform mathematical operations quickly and accurately to support electrical installations.
  • Interpret construction drawings and visualize 3-dimensional structures.
  • Coordinate materials, tools, and equipment for assigned tasks.
  • Direct the work of Electrician Helpers and Apprentices as assigned.
  • Install conduit, wire, pre-fab assemblies, panel-boards, light fixtures, devices, and other equipment per layout.
  • Minimize waste of labor and materials by ensuring high-quality installations without rework.
  • Ensure concealed wiring is installed before completion of walls, ceilings, and flooring.
  • Measure, cut, bend, thread, ream, and install conduit using tools such as hacksaws, band saws, pipe threaders, and conduit benders.
  • Pull and terminate branch and feeder conductors.
  • Terminate wiring to light fixtures, motors, panels, devices, and other electrical equipment.
  • Use test equipment to verify voltage, amperage, and continuity of circuit wiring for safety and compatibility.
  • Troubleshoot and repair faulty circuits, equipment, or systems.
  • Complete all required documentation.

Requirements

  • Valid state driver’s license.
  • OSHA 10 – Construction certification.
  • High School Graduate or GED.
  • Minimum of 5 years of electrical experience preferred.
  • In-depth commercial or industrial electrical construction experience.
  • Ability to install conduit, wire, and cable systems.
  • Experience installing and terminating panels, switchboards, and other electrical equipment.
  • Basic math skills and effective communication abilities.
  • Dependable transportation and willingness to commute daily to remote job sites.
  • Pass references, background check, and drug screen testing.

Working Conditions

  • Work in all weather conditions: heat, cold, rain, or snow.
  • Use construction site sanitary facilities (e.g., Porta-Johns).
  • Carry required personal tools at all times (waist tool belt weighs approximately 30 lbs.).
  • Work from ladders and transport/relocate them unassisted; personal weight with tools must not exceed ladder capacity.
  • Perform work at heights up to 90 feet from ladders, scaffolds, aerial work platforms, catwalks, and other safe areas.
  • Work in restricted or confined spaces such as switchgear rooms, manholes, utility tunnels, and crawl spaces.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Regularly work 40 hours per week plus overtime as required; night shifts, weekends, and out-of-town work may be necessary.

Physical/Mental Functions

  • Identify colors of wires and other items accurately.
  • Comprehend construction drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Bend conduit using hand benders.
  • Safely use power tools and operate construction equipment (e.g., trencher, forklift, aerial work platforms).
  • Dig trenches using hand tools or power equipment.
  • Follow safe work procedures as outlined in the Company Safety Handbook.
  • Operate two-handed tools (e.g., cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools).
  • Operate company trucks with manual or automatic transmissions.
  • Read and interpret maps, instructional manuals, work site directions, and written instructions.
  • Hear and see well (naturally or with correction).
  • Bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead.
  • Lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds; frequently lift and carry objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Tolerate prolonged standing and movement on foot.
  • Climb ladders of all types.
  • Perform repetitive arm, hand, and finger movements, including overhead work for full-day assignments.
  • Transition from parking areas or streets into construction work areas, including accessing all building levels via OSHA-approved ladders or stairs under construction.
  • Secure tools and materials from storage areas to complete tasks.
