About the Role

This full-time, onsite position supports daily Transport Service operations by safely and compliantly transporting client inventory, materials, and goods using commercial motor vehicles requiring a Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL). The role operates in environments such as warehouses, data centers, manufacturing facilities, and internal transport operations. Work schedules may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and changing operational priorities based on business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate assigned commercial motor vehicles and combination vehicles within the class, endorsements, and restrictions authorized by the driver’s CDL.
  • Collect inventory and goods from designated collection points and verify required client shipping, transfer, chain-of-custody, and delivery documentation.
  • Inspect, load, position, and secure cargo in accordance with applicable cargo securement requirements, company procedures, and vehicle capacity limitations.
  • Support daily route planning by considering traffic, road conditions, weather, vehicle restrictions, local access requirements, and client delivery windows.
  • Use approved GPS, routing, communication, and transportation technology to complete assigned routes safely and efficiently.
  • Transport client inventory and goods using company vehicles in accordance with all applicable safety procedures, transportation requirements, and client protocols.
  • Conduct and accurately document required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and promptly report defects, damage, safety concerns, or out-of-service conditions.
  • Comply with applicable hours-of-service requirements and accurately maintain records of duty status using an electronic logging device (ELD) or other authorized recordkeeping method.
  • Support preventive maintenance scheduling and promptly communicate vehicle service or repair needs to management.
  • Safely operate in changing weather and road conditions, including rain, snow, and ice, when conditions permit lawful and safe operation.
  • Exercise stop-work authority and immediately notify management when vehicle condition, fatigue, weather, road conditions, cargo condition, or another hazard makes continued operation unsafe or noncompliant.
  • Protect client inventory and goods from loss, damage, contamination, or unauthorized access while in Milestone custody.
  • Safely unload and transfer inventory or goods at the destination and obtain required delivery or transfer acknowledgments.
  • Maintain professional and respectful interactions with Milestone employees, client personnel, vendors, site security, and the public.
  • Follow transportation safety practices, 5S principles, site safety rules, personal protective equipment requirements, and applicable client procedures.
  • Complete all assigned training and participate in operational, safety, and compliance meetings.
  • Report to work on time, fit for duty, and prepared to safely perform assigned safety-sensitive responsibilities.
  • Communicate clearly and promptly regarding route status, delays, incidents, vehicle concerns, and delivery exceptions.

Requirements

  • Valid Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) issued by the driver’s state of domicile and legally valid for the assigned commercial driving duties.
  • At least 21 years of age when the assigned role requires interstate commercial motor vehicle operation.
  • Ability to satisfy applicable DOT driver qualification requirements and successfully complete required Motor Vehicle Record and driving history reviews.
  • Current medical qualification meeting applicable DOT/FMCSA requirements for the assigned operation, including examination by a certified medical examiner when required.
  • Ability to participate in and remain eligible under applicable DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements and FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse requirements.
  • No CDL restriction that prevents lawful operation of the equipment assigned to the position. Required endorsements, if any, must be maintained based on assigned vehicle and cargo.
  • Demonstrated ability to safely couple and uncouple tractor and trailer equipment.
  • Working knowledge of commercial vehicle inspections, cargo securement, hours-of-service requirements, and ELD/records-of-duty-status procedures applicable to the assigned operation.
  • Ability and willingness to comply with all lawful safety requirements and refrain from operating a commercial motor vehicle when fatigued, medically unqualified, impaired, disqualified, or when the vehicle is unsafe to operate.
  • Computer, tablet, and mobile-device literacy sufficient to use required transportation, communication, inspection, and client applications.
  • Ability to perform physical work in a dynamic environment and safely lift and move up to fifty (50) pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to sit and drive for extended periods and frequently enter and exit commercial vehicles; stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform vehicle and cargo inspections, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a larger team while adapting to changing operational priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum two (2) years of commercial driving experience operating equipment comparable to the assigned fleet.
  • Minimum one (1) year of material handling experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, distribution center, or similar operational environment.
  • Experience using ELD, GPS, transportation, inspection, and mobile communication applications.
  • Versatile and flexible, with a willingness to work within changing priorities.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to make timely, safety-focused decisions.
  • Strong understanding of commercial transportation safety requirements and precautions.

Pay

Estimated Pay Range: $33.00 USD per hour. Exact compensation and offers of employment are dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, licenses or certifications, and location.
