About the role

We’re looking for a Commercial Counsel to join our team! In this role, you’ll pair meticulous legal drafting and deft negotiation skills with top-notch project management to execute strategic commercial agreements for teammates across all departments. You’ll work with cross-functional stakeholders, users, our community, and vendors. Come join a low-ego, high-impact in-house legal function, where you’ll report to Strava’s Deputy General Counsel, Corporate and Commercial.

We follow a flexible hybrid model that translates to more than half of your time on-site in our San Francisco or New York office — three days per week.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for providing practical day-to-day commercial legal support to the Strava for Business team, including negotiation of our sponsored challenge agreements.
• Support cross-functional teams on negotiation of a wide variety of vendor, partnership, consulting, data protection, API and licensing agreements.
• Develop and maintain enablement materials including legal playbooks, FAQs, training, and self-service materials for our cross-functional partners.

Requirements

• You have 4+ years of experience in commercial negotiations and contract drafting.
• You have a mix of top law firm and in-house experience at a multinational, consumer-facing technology company.
• You find innovative, practical solutions to complex contracting challenges, balancing risk tolerance with business objectives.
• You love to negotiate a good deal and advocate for and protect the interests of the business.
• You can clearly distill complex legal concepts into actionable guidance and influence at all levels of the organization.

Pay

Compensation Range: $180K - $190K
