Commercial Construction Laborer

Key Responsibilities

• Assist carpenters, concrete crews, and other skilled trades with daily tasks.
• Load, unload, carry, and stage construction materials, tools, and equipment.
• Perform site preparation activities such as debris removal, cleaning, and organizing.
• Safeguard concrete operations including forming, placing, finishing, and material handling.
• Dig trenches, excavate areas, backfill, and compact soil as directed.
• Safely operate basic hand tools and power tools.
• Set up and maintain job site safety barriers, signage, and protective measures.
• Follow instructions from foremen, supervisors, and skilled trades personnel.
• Maintain a clean, orderly, and hazard-free work environment.
• Adhere to all company policies and comply with OSHA and site-specific safety regulations.
• Travel to and from job sites.

Education and/or Experience

• A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required.
• Prior experience working in commercial construction or general labor roles is a plus.
• Must be able to safely use hand tools, power tools, shovels, compactors, and related equipment.
• Basic understanding of construction processes, job site safety, and common trade practices is necessary.
• Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
• Reliable transportation to and from job sites is required.
• Ability to perform physical labor including lifting, bending, carrying, and working outdoors in various weather conditions is essential.

Physical Demands

• Frequent sitting and manual tasks (typing, handling objects).
• Occasional movement: walking, climbing, bending, kneeling.
• Must be able to lift up to 80 lbs.
• Visual acuity is needed for detailed work and spatial awareness.
• Must hear adequately to respond to verbal instructions, warning bells, and alarms.
