About the role

KTA-Tator, Inc. (KTA) seeks full-time Traveling Commercial Roof & Building Inspectors to conduct comprehensive building condition assessments and inspections for commercial properties. This role involves extensive travel and includes responsibilities such as identifying exterior coating, sealant, and caulking problems, conducting building diagnostic tests, gathering building condition data, and interfacing with onsite store managers and building restoration contractors.

Responsibilities

- Identify exterior coating, sealant, and caulking problems. - Conduct and record results of various types of building diagnostic tests on floors and exterior walls and roofs. - Gather building condition data and measurements of building components and defects. - Take field notes and photographs, and summarize the results electronically. - Interface with onsite store managers and building restoration contractors and complete quality assurance reports. - Examine the building envelope for design or construction deficiencies.

Requirements

- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Building Construction or related field – preferred. - Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) Basic coatings credentials – preferred. - Ability to travel extensively ~70% of the time (~2-week rotations, on occasion traveling up to 4 weeks at a time). - Experience with insurance property inspections, catastrophe inspections, or roof inspection is highly transferable to this role. - Experience with reading, interpreting, and editing/revising blueprints or as-built drawings (utilizing construction software such as Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Autodesk) – desired. - Experience with construction, repair, painting and/or renovation of retail buildings. - Experience with concrete slabs, masonry construction, and/or roofing – preferred. - Experience using a laptop and iPad. - Proficiency with Word and Excel. - Strong written and oral communication skills. - Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (IRS allowable rate of milage is paid).

Qualifications

- Physical requirements include the ability to perform a significant amount of walking around project sites, sit/drive for periods of time, climb ladders, and handle small objects, instruments, or gauges.
