Responsibilities
- Team Focused Leadership
- Contribute to the team by reflecting on past experiences to enhance timely, accurate, and balanced credit decisions.
- Lead credit discussions and possess good negotiation and loan structuring skills.
- Ensure accuracy and clarity of all documents (e.g., CAMs, correspondence, loan docs).
- Communicate actively and effectively.
- Drive and steer requests from origination to booking.
- Contribute to the development of Underwriters and Associates.
- Collaborate well with other areas of the Bank.
- Financial Results and/or Efficiencies
- Reach or exceed the team’s financial goals.
- Grow the portfolio.
- Seek opportunities and mentor Underwriters and Associates on prompt follow-through.
- Identify efficiencies for the team.
- Senior Officer: Maintain secondary credit syndication portfolio at established levels.
- Senior Officer: Maintain and grow the Hawaii-based loan and deposit portfolio through participations with local financial institutions or direct acquisition of primary local business relationships.
- Relationship Banking
- Build trust with clients through attentiveness, anticipation, and prompt satisfaction of requests.
- Negotiate prudently with good judgment.
- Seek opportunities to surprise and delight clients.
- Be familiar with products and services offered by the Bank.
- Risk Management/Compliance
- Be aware of potential risks in the marketplace and industry.
- Educate and advise clients of potential risks.
- Understand and observe policies and procedures.
- Minimize ticklers, exceptions, and delinquencies.
- Identify loan re-grades promptly.
- Personal/Professional Development
- Participate in Bank functions and training sessions.
- Engage in non-profits and other community endeavors.
Requirements
- Education:
- Officer I and II: High School Diploma or GED equivalency required. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited 4-year university in Business Administration or related field preferred.
- Officer III and Senior Officer: High School Diploma or GED equivalency required. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited 4-year university in Business Administration or related field required.
- Experience:
- Officer I: 5+ years of Commercial lending (sales) experience required.
- Officer II: 6+ years of Commercial lending (sales) experience required.
- Officer III: 5+ years of Commercial lending (sales) experience required.
- Senior Officer: 6+ years of Commercial lending (sales) experience required.
Working Conditions
- Perform light physical work, including moving or lifting items up to 20 pounds.
- Operate standard office equipment, including phone, copier, and personal computer.
- Clearly communicate verbally and in writing with all internal and external customers.
- Read and understand bank-related documents.
- Work in a conventional office setting, involving sitting at a desk or workstation for long periods.
- Adapt to different work environments as needed.
