About the Role
The Assistant Relationship Manager (ARM) supports Relationship Managers (RMs) in managing client relationships and credit workflow. The ARM conducts credit analyses, including gathering, analyzing, and interpreting all types of credit information on existing and prospective customers and portfolios. The role involves providing timely, accurate financial analysis, making recommendations regarding credit extension (via credit memos), developing key discussion points, and assisting in loan monitoring and administration.
Responsibilities
- Perform assigned duties in accordance with the Bank’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values while providing exceptional customer service.
- Adhere to defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs), both internal and external.
- Investigate, interpret, and analyze credit reports.
- Spread and analyze financial statements to evaluate existing and projected company cash flow.
- Work with the Loan Coordinator to order necessary reports (UCC lien searches, title, insurance, appraisals/evaluations, environmental, flood, etc.).
- Review reports, including title, independent appraisals, and collateral exams.
- Develop a list of key information to support the loan approval process.
- Prepare detailed Credit Memorandums within defined Credit Quality Expectations and bank policies.
- Make underwriting recommendations to the Relationship Manager, Market President, and Credit Administration.
- Assist in monitoring loans through timely collection of financial information and tickler management.
- Assist in creating and maintaining customer files within defined bank standards.
- Review financial information for loan compliance to maximize credit quality and minimize risk.
- Maintain current financial information consistent with loan approval and ensure credit file upkeep.
- Serve as part of the Relationship Management team.
- Attend customer meetings (as requested by RM) and take notes to assist in underwriting and risk evaluation.
- Work with loan applicants to ensure loan packages are complete.
- Participate in Credit Trainings to remain current on standards and expectations.
- Assist in preparing Preflights and Letters of Intent (LOIs) as requested.
- Review portfolio reports to monitor workflow, maturing loans, covenant compliance, etc.
- Analyze and recommend line draws (via Borrowing Base Certificates, Construction Draws, etc.).
- Support collection of past-due accounts as requested by RM.
- Assist with customer calls and marketing efforts as needed.
- Maintain knowledge of and compliance with banking regulations.
- Promote all bank products and services.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related area; or equivalent work experience.
- 1 year of experience in credit analysis and/or lending activities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Developed credit analysis and analytical skills.
- Thorough understanding of business cash flow and legal business structures.
- Good knowledge of economics, accounting, and finance.
- Basic knowledge of risk analysis.
- Thorough knowledge of lending policies and procedures.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), spreadsheet applications, and bank software.
- Experience with financial analysis software such as Moody’s and Bukers.
- Effective oral and written communication and time management skills.
