This position supports multiple Commercial Relationship Managers by assisting with loans, deposits, investments, trusts, and insurance products. Responsibilities span the entire commercial lending process, from loan closings to ongoing portfolio management. The role reports to the Commercial Banking Support Manager and may be filled at either the I or II level based on experience.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support: answer phones, coordinate calendars, schedule appointments, prepare correspondence, memos, and reports, order supplies, train new associates, manage mail, and prepare expense reports.
- Prepare loan applications, disburse loan advances, quote payoffs, order credit reports, pull financial statements, and ensure documentation accuracy and compliance before submission.
- Manage exception lists, assist in collateral releases, complete and file UCCs, and process Letters of Credit.
- Retrieve and utilize information on sweep accounts.
- Interface with other departments: branch personnel, Loan Operations, Central Document Processing (CDP), Wire Transfer, Treasury Services, Mail Distribution, Trust, Compliance, Credit Analysis, Credit Operations, and Legal.
- Assist customers with post-close banking functions, including fund transfers, wires, and balancing checking accounts.
- Deliver excellent customer service to all internal and external clients.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Commercial Banking Assistant I
- High school diploma.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a business banking assistant or relevant general banking/assistant experience.
- Accounting and mathematical aptitude.
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
- Intermediate computer skills, including proficiency in Word, Excel, and bank systems (e.g., nCino, OnDemand, Outlook); typing speed of 30 wpm.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
- Preferred: 2-year degree with a business administration emphasis.
- Preferred: Knowledge of general and business banking procedures.
Commercial Banking Assistant II
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Community Banking Assistant I or equivalent.
- Advanced knowledge of banking and commercial lending procedures.
- Familiarity with legal concepts in commercial lending, including when and how to escalate concerns.
- Functional understanding of UCCs, Deeds of Trust, Borrowing Base Certificates, Letters of Credit, and Sweep Accounts.
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
- Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and bank systems (e.g., nCino, OnDemand, Outlook).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
- Preferred: College degree.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods while using a computer keyboard and/or mouse.
- Ability to lift at least 20 pounds to process boxed or bagged coins.
