About the role
The Commercial Banker develops and executes a business-development strategy to acquire new commercial clients within the assigned market. The position calls on business customers, high-net-worth individuals, and prospects to assess needs, tailor solutions, and meet loan, deposit, and service objectives. The role collaborates with Treasury Management, Wealth Management, Consumer Banking, and internal support teams to deliver comprehensive banking services.
Responsibilities
- Maintains the quality, profitability, and growth of business and consumer products through appropriate pricing and fees.
- Demonstrates effective sales strategies to attract, expand, and retain customer relationships.
- Applies need-based sales techniques to identify products and services that enhance customer relationships.
- Sets business development strategy for the assigned market; identifies opportunities and makes sales calls to existing clients and prospects.
- Collects and analyzes customer and prospect financials (tax returns, income statements, bank statements) to assess viability and perform ongoing credit-grade determinations within policy guidelines.
- Identifies and structures large, complex loan and deposit opportunities to optimize credit quality and profitability.
- Coordinates portfolio management functions with a team that may include Credit Analysts and Commercial Banking Assistants.
- Applies business acumen and risk management expertise to assess loan and deposit opportunities.
- Prepares and presents accurate, comprehensive information to the Loan Committee for loan approval.
- Oversees ongoing quality control for the portfolio, including documentation, compliance, and collection efforts.
- Maintains knowledge of banking products, programs, services, and promotions.
- Responsible for achieving market objectives set by Bank leadership.
- Uses Customer Relationship Management systems to track sales efforts and prospects.
- Ensures compliance with internal controls, operational procedures, and risk management policies.
- Represents the Bank in business development efforts, networking, and community functions.
- Develops partnerships and collaborates with other lines of business to attain mutual goals and better serve customers.
- Ensures adherence to AML/BSA requirements, audit procedures, dual control, security, Business Continuity, and all other regulated banking requirements.
- Adheres to Seacoast Bank’s Code of Conduct.
Requirements
- Five or more years of proven success in Commercial Banking.
- 4-year college degree (BA in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or related major).
- Ability to analyze markets, identify prospects, and develop consultative, value-added sales techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed established targets.
- Proven record of relationship building with business, civic, and governmental organizations.
- Established reputation and followership within the local micro-community.
- Flexibility around work hours to accommodate client schedules.
