About the Role

Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Community Residence Counselor (CRC) provides direct patient care and participates in the therapeutic milieu within the scope of defined practice. This role is essential in supporting patient care, research, teaching, and community service, aligning with Mass General Brigham's mission to provide exceptional care.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care in accordance with the current treatment plan, under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, Clinical Coordinator, and Charge Nurse.
• Organizes and supervises community activities based on patient needs.
• Remains awake and alert at all times while on duty.
• Assists patients in maintaining and attending appointments.
• Maintains clear, concise, and timely documentation and shift notes.
• Establishes helpful relationships with patients while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Participates in patient rounds, status checks, and team meetings as per program guidelines.
• Completes assigned patient care tasks according to program guidelines and daily assignment sheets.
• Manages the therapeutic milieu effectively.
• Provides patients with direction and supervision as needed.
• Follows established hospital and program policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Communicates information about the patient milieu/therapeutic environment to appropriate staff in a timely manner.
• Reports observations related to medication side effects and physical/emotional changes to medical staff promptly.
• Encourages patients in their activities of daily living.
• Assesses sleep patterns and assists patients in developing healthier sleep cycles, notifying the clinical team as necessary.
• Completes mandatory annual in-service requirements, including CPR and de-escalation training.
• Attends and participates in rounds and case conferences when appropriate.
• Supports residents with daily routines, medical reminders, meal preparation, transportation, and personal care as needed.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree in a Related Field preferred. Experience cannot substitute for the degree requirement.
• Licenses and Credentials:
  • Medication Administration Program (MAP) Certification from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health required.
  • Class D Passenger Vehicle Driver's License preferred (HR Only).
• Experience: One year of patient care or related experience preferred, ideally in a psychiatric setting.
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to professional growth and competency.
  • Basic computer skills for using electronic systems (e.g., PRISM) for communication, clinical, and administrative purposes.
  • Familiarity with Epic preferred.
  • Ability to drive and transport patients may be required based on role and location.

Additional Details

• Schedule: Overnight shifts.
• Program Focus: Serves individuals with moderate to severe or treatment-resistant OCD, catering to adults 18 and older on the Belmont campus.
• Work Location: 115 Mill Street.
• Scheduled Weekly Hours: 16.
• Employee Type: Regular.
• Work Shift: Night.

Pay

$23.40 - $30.73/Hourly (Grade MCL051)
