Work closely with engineers, production teams, and quality personnel to ensure products meet specifications while maintaining laboratory equipment, safety standards, and accurate technical records.
Responsibilities
- Prepare metallurgical test samples through sectioning, mounting, polishing, and other established laboratory techniques for microscopic evaluation.
- Conduct microscopic analysis of thermal spray coatings, including assessment of porosity, cracks, unmelts, and other characteristics to verify compliance with quality specifications.
- Perform hardness testing, mechanical testing, and support advanced materials characterization activities to evaluate material properties and performance.
- Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment including microscopes, polishing equipment, saws, and hardness testers.
- Document, analyze, and communicate test results through accurate technical reports and collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams.
- Maintain compliance with laboratory safety, environmental, health, and quality procedures while supporting routine laboratory operations and process control activities.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree or higher in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Chemistry, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field. Equivalent combination of education and relevant laboratory experience may be considered.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a metallurgical, materials testing, or quality laboratory environment.
- Experience preparing and evaluating metallurgical samples using microscopy techniques; experience with thermal spray coatings is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, specifications, and testing procedures.
- Experience operating laboratory testing equipment and preparing accurate technical documentation and reports.
- Legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
