Combo Welder

About the role

This is a maintenance position in Pass Christian, MS. The Combo Welder lays out, fits, and welds fabricated, cast, and forged components to assemble structural forms such as tanks, pressure vessels, furnace shells, pipe, and building and bridge parts. This is a non-exempt role reporting to the Foreman.

Responsibilities

• Select equipment and plan layout, assembly, and welding.
• Lay out, position, align, and fit components together; bolt, clamp, and tack weld parts to secure in position for welding.
• Set up equipment and weld parts; may assemble parts by bolting and riveting.
• Weld pipe (carbon steel, stainless steel, chrome, etc.) using processes such as arc, heliarc, gas, MIG, TIG, etc.
• Weld sheet metal, structural steel, brackets, or other materials.
• Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.
• Use cutting torch to cut materials and demo existing assemblies.

Requirements

• Minimum four (4) years of experience in welding.
• Ability to pass a 2" Carbon and Stainless Steel Schedule 10 weld test.
• Certified as a welder.
• Written pre-employment qualification test.
• Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation.
• Compliance with job site safety requirements (e.g., clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots).
• Use of safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.).

Physical Involvement

• Climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level.
• Maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, and structures.
• Reaching in all directions, handling and manipulating objects and materials.
• Coordinating eye, hand, and finger movements to operate tools and equipment.
• Lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead.
• Carrying objects, tools, and equipment.
• Standing, sitting, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, crouching/squatting, crawling.
• Seeing and hearing with or without correction.
