Combination Bartender/Server - Casual

About the Role

This role will be located at Makena Golf & Beach Club, set on Maui, HI. Makena is seeking a Bartender/Server (Casual) to join the Food and Beverage Service Department. The Bartender/Server will be responsible for timely service of drinks and general oversight of the bar and restaurant areas. The candidate should be passionate about food, beverage, and the art of hospitality, and provide an extensive knowledge of food and beverage pairings to provide members the best dining experiences. In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide a dining experience consistent with the standards of the club in all areas of member service.
• Ability to execute unique craft cocktails.
• Greet all members and guests politely and promptly, seat them, explain the menu as needed as well as daily specials and beverages.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of bar/bar storage and other work areas at all times.
• Follow recipes for cocktails, syrups, and all house-made ingredients.
• Laws and regulations are to be adhered to at all times; including but not limited to pour ratio.
• Entering all transactions accordingly into POS system, and charging members accounts accurately.
• Educate yourself with extensive knowledge of all beverages and ingredients.
• Demonstrate a sense of urgency for responding to members' needs during all interactions.
• Ensure timely delivery of food and beverages.
• Comprehensive knowledge of wine and serving techniques.
• Knowledge of food/wine pairing recommendations.
• Any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one (1) year of previous bartending experience, preferably in a fast paced, high end establishment.
• Knowledge of HACCP & local food safety standards; possesses or can obtain State Food Safety Certificate.
• Robust knowledge of wines and beverages.
• Extraordinary attention to detail, quality and service.

Additional Requirements

• Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
• Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.

Pay

$32.79/hr
