About the role
The Estimator in Training at Gerber Collision & Glass works closely with the Estimator to learn how to effectively diagnose and prepare estimates for repair, ensuring accuracy, thoroughness, and profitability according to insurance partner and company guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Greets customers at repair drop-off and builds rapport.
- Maps damage with customers, documenting previous and current losses, and identifying WOW opportunities.
- Takes initial photographs and uploads them to CCC One, along with arrival time and other details.
- Notifies production that the vehicle has arrived and places it in the production queue.
- Verifies the estimate during the teardown process.
- Finalizes the estimate using the proper Repair Planning Template.
- Works with the repair team to ensure notations on windshields are correct and complete.
- Puts together the final parts list.
- Uses the Promise Date Calculator to set the promise date.
- Calls customers to review the estimate and promise date, updating them regularly.
- Participates in and contributes to regular production meetings.
- Schedules vehicles for completion the next day and follows up with technicians after tear-down, making adjustments to the estimate if necessary.
- Assists insurance adjusters with damage reports and provides service to insurance claim re-inspectors.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Prior customer service experience.
- Successfully complete 16 I-CAR units within the first 12 months of employment.
- Must currently possess or successfully complete 16 I-CAR units within the first 12 months of employment.
- Preferred: 4-6 years related work experience.
- Photo-imaging software experience is preferred.
