College Intern
About the Role
As a College Sales Intern with ODP Business Solutions (ODPBS), you will be an integral part of our university partnership program, helping to drive business growth and brand awareness on your campus. This internship is designed for students enrolled at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and living on campus, offering hands-on experience in sales, marketing, and business development while supporting ODPBS’s strategic initiatives. You will work closely with the ODPBS Senior Account Manager and gain exposure to real-world sales processes, customer engagement, and marketing strategies. This role is ideal for students interested in pursuing careers in sales, marketing, business management, or related fields.
Interns will learn about products, markets, sales, and marketing strategies, which are essential for a successful career in sales. Successful interns may be considered for full-time job offers upon graduation, depending upon company requirements and economic factors.
Candidates must be available to work 10-12 hours per week. Schedule is flexible to accommodate academic schedule.
Responsibilities
- Campus Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the university community, including departments, student organizations, and faculty. Actively promote ODPBS products and services to fellow students and university staff.
- Lead Generation & Customer Outreach: Research and compile lists of potential customers on campus. Initiate contact with end users (buyers and non-buyers) to schedule meetings, deliver marketing materials, and provide product samples.
- Sales Presentations & Events: Represent ODPBS at campus events, trade shows, and “lunch and learn” sessions. Present ODPBS programs and services, answer questions, and distribute promotional materials.
- Account Support & Collaboration: Partner with the ODPBS Account Manager to develop and execute marketing strategies. Attend customer business reviews and assist in preparing presentations and reports.
- Market Research & Feedback: Gather feedback from campus customers to help improve ODPBS offerings. Monitor competitor activity and report market trends.
- Professional Development: Participate in training sessions on sales techniques, product knowledge, and business fundamentals. Network with ODPBS professionals and gain insight into career paths in sales and marketing.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent education.
- Must currently be enrolled in the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and living on campus.
- Area of Study: Business, Marketing, or any related field.
- No previous experience required.
- Interest in sales, marketing, business, or related fields.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently.
- Willingness to attend campus events and interact with diverse groups.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Ability and willingness to travel all around campus to various offices/buildings.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to use computers and technology for information access.
