CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION: The Central Office Records Access Unit manages and responds to requests for access to public CUNY Central Office records made under the New York State Freedom of Information Law (“FOIL”). They ensure compliance with Federal, State, local laws, and University policies and guidelines regarding the retention and disposition of records, and identification and preservation of records of historic importance. Additionally, they coordinate the continuous legal destruction of obsolete records per the CUNY Records Retention and Disposition Schedule.

Minimum Qualifications

Must demonstrate sufficient skills to perform the duties of the assigned tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with legal professionals and administrators.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate follow-through in completing assignments.
  • Ability to work well in a team setting, collaborating with attorneys and administrative professionals to complete tasks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.).

Other Qualifications

Under the guidance of the University FOIL and Records Access Attorney, College Assistants will assist with updating the CUNY Records Retention and Disposition Schedule, so that it substantively and facially aligns/conforms with New York State’s Retention and Disposition Schedule for New York Local Government Records (LGS-01).

Compensation

The hourly rate for this position is $25.51.
