• Advanced Subject Mastery: Deep knowledge of college admissions processes, application components, financial aid and scholarship strategies, standardized testing requirements, extracurricular profile building, and admissions essay writing.
• Ability to explain holistic review processes, demonstrated interest, early decision versus early action strategies, and financial aid applications while guiding students through competitive college admissions.
• Conceptual Teaching & Problem-Solving: Skilled at teaching college list development, application strategy, and personal branding for admissions success. Guides students through researching colleges, building balanced school lists, crafting compelling personal statements, preparing for admissions interviews, and navigating financial aid including FAFSA and CSS Profile. Emphasizes authentic self-presentation and connects admissions preparation to long-term academic and career goal alignment.
• Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Familiar with college admissions landscape and common challenges such as building a balanced college list, managing application deadlines, and writing distinctive essays. Adapts instruction using college research tools, essay brainstorming exercises, and application timeline planning to support high school students and families from initial college exploration through final enrollment decision-making.
• Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style. Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
