Position Summary The Collections Specialist I coordinates collection efforts for the loan and deposit portfolio. This position partners with lenders and branches regarding past due accounts, works with attorneys regarding bankruptcies and garnishments, and assigns accounts for repossession. The Collections Specialist I reports to the Consumer & Small Business Credit Administration and Collections Manager and provides excellent service and support to customers and teammates while demonstrating the Company’s values and supporting the mission. Position Duties & Responsibilities Coordinate collection efforts for the loan and deposit portfolioPartner with lenders and branches regarding past due loans and overdrawn deposit accountsContact past due clientsWrite collection lettersWork with attorneys regarding bankruptcies and garnishmentsAttend court as necessaryAssign accounts for repossession and sell repossessed collateralPrepare and review past due reports for managementMaintain an aggressive collection effort to minimize past-due accountsAssist in resolving customer questions and concernsAttend meetings and provide input and updates on collections activities as requiredMaintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; and establishing personal networksAdhere to compliance with all federal bank regulations and laws, including those for consumer protection and the Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering ProgramAttend training and participate in outside community activities, as requested and/or requiredPerform other duties as assigned Required Qualifications High School diploma or GED1 year of experience in a related rolePrevious bank experience preferredKnowledge of real estate lending, documentation, collateralization, UCC-1 Law, lien perfections, and Deeds of TrustStrong knowledge of financial principles, loan underwriting, lending regulations, credit analysis, and contracts with individual or corporate borrowersAbility to work on multiple projects simultaneouslyEffective verbal and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skillsEffective presentation skillsAttention to detail, critical thinking and problem-solving skillsHigh standards for integrity, honesty, professionalism, and work ethicCommitment to service excellenceAbility to work independently while demonstrating excellent organization and follow throughDemonstrate flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workloadAbility and willingness to work with purpose and a strong sense of urgencySelf-motivated, positive, and enthusiasticSelf-starter with a strong desire to exceed expectationsMaintain confidentiality discretionAbility to effectively work in collaboration with others to achieve business objectivesMust be able to work extended hours as neededWilling to grow and be challenged Comprehensive Benefits & Recognition We believe success should be acknowledged and celebrated.
