About the Role

Under general supervision and in accordance with established policies and procedures, this role preserves the Credit Union’s assets by controlling delinquent accounts, collecting delinquent loans, mortgages, and credit cards, and/or recovering collateral. You will assist with department training and the development of written procedures.

Responsibilities

• Contact members to resolve delinquencies or take other appropriate collection actions while maintaining a tactful and resourceful manner to preserve positive relationships.
• Use various systems to document, skip trace, and track delinquency.
• Handle callback requests from members and internal departments.
• Prepare hardship packages for the Loan Committee.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and timely records of all contacts made and actions taken on each delinquent account.
• Perform clerical tasks such as posting payments and letter communications, including required repossession notifications.
• Meet regularly with the Collections Manager or Assistant Collections Manager to review collection results and obtain recommendations on complicated or difficult accounts.
• Cross-train in other areas or departments and perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or G.E.D.
• 1-3 years of experience in lending or collections with good knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Act, litigation process, bankruptcy, and repossession.

Skills

• Experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Bilingual preferred
• Functional knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act and other federal laws, including but not limited to: U.S. Patriot Act, Office of Foreign Assets & Control, Anti-Money Laundering, Right to Financial Privacy Act, and the Bank Bribery Act.

Work Environment

This role is supported by a hybrid working environment, combining in-office and remote work. Work arrangements are subject to change and may be adjusted at any time to meet business or operational needs.

Schedule

Full-time, 40 hours per week. This is a non-exempt position.
