Collections Specialist

State Credit Union is seeking a Collections Specialist in Columbia, SC for the Loan Adjustments department.

About the role

The Collections Specialist will support Loan Adjustments with specialized duties assigned by the Loan Adjustments Manager, adhering to SCU policies, procedures, and state and federal collection laws.

Responsibilities

• Assign collateral for repossession with approved agent.
• Coordinate the liquidation of repossessed collateral with repossession agents, auction, and other entities as necessary.
• Track inventory and repossession assignments.
• Apply proceeds from the sale of repossessed collateral.
• File collateral damage, skip, and deficiency claims with insurance carrier.
• Represent SCU in Magistrate's Court.
• Respond to credit disputes via e-Oscar (ACDV & AUD).

Requirements

• Experience in loan adjustments, collections, or collateral recovery.
• A bachelor's degree may be substituted for related work experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency in Excel.
• Detail-oriented.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to travel state-wide, sometimes with short notice.
