About the role
The Collections Manager is responsible for overseeing the acquisition, care, and conservation of the museum's art collection. This includes managing the acquisition process, cataloging artworks, and ensuring their preservation.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the acquisition of new artworks for the collection
- Manage the cataloging and documentation of all artworks in the collection
- Develop and implement policies for the care and maintenance of the collection
- Coordinate with curators and other departments to ensure the collection aligns with the museum's mission
- Work closely with conservators to ensure artworks are properly cared for
- Research and recommend acquisitions that enhance the museum's collection
Requirements
- A degree in Art History, Museum Studies, or a related field
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a museum setting
- Proven ability to manage and maintain large collections
- Strong knowledge of art conservation techniques and practices
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
Qualifications
- Experience with database management systems
- Knowledge of art market trends and auction houses
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

$80,000 - $90,000 annually
