Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of assigned collection cases from inception through resolution.
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and other legal documents.
- Represent clients in court proceedings.
- Negotiate settlements and payment arrangements with opposing counsel and debtors.
- Conduct legal research to support case strategy and ensure compliance with state and federal laws.
- Maintain accurate and timely case documentation in case management systems.
- Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
- Ensure adherence to client guidelines and firm policies.
- Collaborate with internal teams including litigation support and compliance.
Qualifications
- The candidate must be a member of good standing of the Wisconsin Bar.
- 3+ years of legal experience, preferably in collections, creditors’ rights, or civil litigation.
- Strong knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and relevant state laws.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a high-volume environment.
- Proficient in legal research tools and case management software.
License/Certification
- WI Bar License (Required).
- Additional Bar licenses are a plus.
