Duties and responsibilities (including but not limited to) Works all stations on the COLD LINEPrepares mise-en-place for workstation on the kitchen lineMaintains accurate prep listsInspects and tastes all of ingredients for quality controlPresents excellent food for serviceCoordinates pick-ups and plating with other cooks and ChefsCommunicates with Chefs and other cooks before, during and after serviceCleans and sanitizes work area and maintains designated cooler spaceOther duties as assigned Qualifications Understanding and experience of restaurant hospitality and fine dining1-2+ yrs professional kitchen experienceOwns sharp knives and kitchen toolsWillingness to learn and retain knowledgeGood time management and communication skillsAbility to work in fast-paced environment with frequent deadlinesUnderstanding of NYC health department codes Working conditions This job operates in a professional kitchen environment. This role routinely uses standard kitchen equipment including knives and appliances. Kitchen is small and efficient, and temperatures may be high. The workspace is on two levels and ability to use stairs is required. Essential Functions Of The Job While performing the duties of this job, it is required to stand for several hours at a time; walk; sit. The employee must occasionally lift or move kitchen products and supplies, up to 40 pounds. Days and hours of work vary and are generally assigned as a 40 hour per week schedule. This position regularly requires evening and weekend work. This is a full-time (occasionally part-time), FLSA non-exempt hourly position in the Kitchen at Chelsea Market at 75 9th Avenue.
