Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Coin Grader to join our team. This role is responsible for evaluating, grading, and authenticating a wide range of coins, from raw collectibles to high-value rarities. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of coin grading standards and thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Grade coins accurately using industry standards (e.g., ANA guidelines)
- Assess authenticity, condition, and marketability of coins
- Identify key attributes including date, mint mark, variety, and errors
- Work with both raw and slabbed coins (PCGS, NGC, etc.)
- Collaborate with purchasing and sales teams to determine pricing strategies
- Maintain consistency and accuracy across high volumes of inventory
- Assist in sorting and categorizing incoming inventory
- Provide input on high-value or rare coin acquisitions
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in coin grading or numismatics (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of U.S. coins (world coins a plus)
- Familiarity with grading scales (Sheldon Scale, MS/PF grades, etc.)
- Experience with PCGS and/or NGC standards preferred
- High attention to detail and consistency
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume environment
- Strong organizational and communication skills
Preferred Skills
- Experience buying/selling coins or working in an auction environment
- Knowledge of precious metals markets (gold, silver, etc.)
- Ability to identify cleaned, altered, or counterfeit coins
- Experience with coin imaging or cataloging systems
