About the role
The primary role of the Cognitive Retraining Specialist is to assist individuals with developing various skills in order to be as independent as possible in their home and community. Every individual receives tailored services based on their special needs, so each day is unique.
Responsibilities
- Work with 1 - 3 individuals a day for 3+ hours each, depending on the person's needs.
- Provide services in the client's home, community, work, or volunteer location.
- Work on areas such as compensatory memory strategies, budgeting, problem-solving, communication, social skills, community navigation, study skills, academic organization, and vocational preparedness.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology or other Human Services field (Examples are shown above).
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
- A reliable car, valid license, and responsible driving record.
- The ability to work a flexible schedule.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Creativity, initiative, flexibility, and time management skills.
- The ability to work well with a team.
Qualifications
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services/Education/Social Science.
- Must have had a valid driver’s license for 12 months prior to start.
- No prior experience is required.
