About the role
Accurate coding is essential to the financial health of a healthcare organization and the integrity of the patient record. As a Coding Quality Specialist 2 supporting Radiology services, you will play a critical role in ensuring coding accuracy, regulatory compliance, and timely reimbursement while helping support exceptional patient care across UVA Health. This fully remote opportunity is ideal for an experienced medical coding professional who enjoys problem-solving, working independently, and applying advanced coding expertise in a highly specialized environment. Responsibilities
- Review and assign accurate CPT, ICD-10, and modifier coding for radiology procedures and services.
- Analyze clinical documentation to support compliant coding and reimbursement practices.
- Apply knowledge of National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) edits, payer-specific requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
- Identify and resolve coding discrepancies, edits, and documentation-related issues.
- Collaborate with coding colleagues, providers, and operational teams to address coding questions and improve accuracy.
- Maintain a high degree of precision while managing productivity expectations in a fast-paced environment.
- Support coding quality initiatives that enhance revenue cycle performance and compliance outcomes.
- Utilize strong analytical and critical-thinking skills to evaluate complex coding scenarios and determine appropriate code assignment.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 2+ years of relevant coding experience required.
- Radiology coding experience preferred.
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required.
Physical Demands
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings and programs.
Pay
The pay range for this role is $23.00 - $35.32 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
