Job Highlights

Job Responsibilities and Requirements
- Drives optimal clinical and financial outcomes through thorough assessment of provider documentation and coding competency, identification of improvement opportunities.
- Develops and delivers training and education of all coding processes.
- Stays abreast of regulatory changes and works with leadership to ensure compliance and revenue integrity.
- Acts as subject matter expert for providers and coders while providing guidance and clarification on issues which present in their daily account processing.
- Establishes and coordinates internal quality review processes and corresponding training for providers and coders.
- Evaluates provider documentation for clarity, completeness and consistency to ensure optimal code selection.
- Provides education to providers on coding guidelines, practices and documentation techniques.
- Performs audits of provider documentation to identify opportunities or risks.
- Develops provider education based on findings and needs.
- Manages communication with coding and corporate responsibilities around education and directions provided to both providers and coders.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare or related field, or equivalent years of experience and education.
- Certified Coding Associate (CCA) - American Health Information Management Assoc (AHIMA)
- Certified Coding Specialist - Physician-based (CCS-P) - American Health Information Management Assoc (AHIMA)
- Certified Outpatient Coder (COC) - American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC)
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC®) - American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC)
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) - American Health Information Management Assoc (AHIMA)
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) - American Health Information Management Assoc (AHIMA)
Physical Requirements
- Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
- Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
- Able to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
- Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
- Rare climbing.
