Responsibilities
- Serves as Coding Educator of ICD 10, ICD 10 PCS, & CPT for the SRHS District.
- Serves a liaison between providers and coders.
- Provides education /in-services in training with regard to ICD 10 and CPT coding.
- Assists with coding/billing/charging questions and edits.
- Analyzes clinical documentation to ensure clear, thorough documentation that accurately reflects the patient diagnosis/es, procedures, DRG and APC assignment.
- Works close with Coding Manager, CDI/IP Supervisor to trend and develop appropriate educational programs.
- Assists with coding volumes if requested by coding Manager or Director.
Requirements
- Education: Associates Degree in HIM or related field
- Experience: 5+ years of experience required at Tertiary/Acute Care Teaching Hospital
- License/Registration/Certifications: CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) or CPC, or RHIT
Qualifications
- Preferred Education: BS, Masters, or Doctorate
- Preferred Experience: 10 Years of experience at tertiary teaching acute care hospital in IP and CDI
- Preferred License/Registration/Certifications: RHIT/CCS, CCS-P
