About the role

Reporting to the Administrator, Revenue Cycle, this individual is responsible for the oversight, analysis, and management of coding and DRG denial data across the health system. The Analyst supports accurate reimbursement and compliance by manually collecting, organizing, and analyzing denial data, preparing reports, and identifying trends to reduce future denials. This role collaborates regularly with coding, CDI, revenue cycle, and clinical teams to resolve denials, support appeals, and ensure data integrity in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee, analyze, and manage coding and DRG denial data across the health system.
  • Manually collect, organize, and analyze denial data to support accurate reimbursement and compliance.
  • Prepare reports and identify trends to reduce future denials.
  • Collaborate with coding, CDI, revenue cycle, and clinical teams to resolve denials and support appeals.
  • Ensure data integrity in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards.

Qualifications

Minimum Education: AAS in business, information management, or health-related field preferred. May be substituted for relevant work experience.

Minimum Experience:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Detail-oriented with general business/medical office experience.
  • Medical claims payment and processing experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with insurance and medical terminology preferred.
  • Experience with data management.
  • Experience using Midas & EPIC desired.

Physical Requirements

  • Work is primarily sedentary with prolonged use of keyboards and a mouse at a computer terminal.
  • Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion.
  • Visual and aural acuity, finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment.
  • Ability to withstand long periods of sitting, standing, and/or constant walking.
  • Ability to lift 10 lbs.

Working Conditions

  • Works in a clean, well-lit, heated, or ventilated facility with no routine exposure to hazards.
  • For remote and hybrid remote positions: If deemed operationally necessary, position may be required to report in and work on-site.
  • May be subject to irregular hours including evenings or potentially weekends to participate in operational and community events as necessary.

Pay

Compensation for the role is $62,361 - $77,951 per year. The range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits. When determining compensation, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget, and internal equity).
