About the Role
A skilled-level position requiring expert knowledge of medical and clinical terminology and disease processes related to Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology. The role involves utilizing appropriate coding conventions to assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes for highly complex and specialized CVIR procedures.
Responsibilities
- Assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes for CVIR procedures, including:
- Diagnostic angiography
- Percutaneous vascular interventions
- Non-vascular interventions
- Diagnostic cardiac catheterization
- Basic coronary arterial interventions
- Pacemakers
- Maintain strong attention to detail to reduce coding and billing errors by reconciling charges and coding discrepancies between HIM and clinical departments.
- Effectively problem-solve and communicate with peers, auditing staff, management, and physicians verbally or in writing.
- Stay current with ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding guidelines and maintain continuing education hours.
- Maintain minimum quality and productivity standards.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of applicable experience in coding for an acute care hospital setting.
- Expertise in medical and clinical terminology related to Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology.
- Surgical coding experience is a plus.
Schedule
