Coder- Anesthesia Full Time Days

About the role

Under general supervision and according to established procedures, assigns diagnostic codes to medical record information. Codes the professional component on inpatient and observation accounts using the ICD-10-CM and HCPCS systems. Responsible for assuring the professional component of inpatient and observation accounts are coded and abstracted in a timely and accurate manner.

Requirements

Education

• Associate's degree in Health Information Management or related field required

Experience

• 3 years of professional coding experience required

Licenses & Certifications

• RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CPC preferred

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, and ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 coding guidelines
• Excellent communication skills
• Detail-oriented with organization and time management skills
• Proficient in computers, word processing, and computer applications
• Problem-solving skills
• Proficient in the use of reference materials and resources
