About this position

The Welder II is a full-time position that operates out of the L&L Fabrication Greeley Weld Shop. This position is expected to weld at a CODE level whether the project is Code or Non-Code, and handle a variety of materials. The role requires agility and the ability to pivot between welding, fitting, and supporting team development.

L&L Fabrication is an ASME Code vessel shop holding U and R stamps. It offers ASME-coded work built to specification, along with repairs and maintenance on used pressure-rated equipment. The company emphasizes quality work, meeting deadlines, and ensuring safety for all personnel.

Expected Roles/Responsibilities

  • weld Non-Code and Code articles to satisfactory quality
  • GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, according to Work Procedures Sheets (WPS)
  • Weld to expectations and meet challenges like 100% NDT
  • Process materials accurately and efficiently
  • Oxy-fuel, Plasma, Saw, Mag-Drill, and Grinder operations
  • Use all shop and personal tooling safely and appropriately
  • Drive a forklift safely and appropriately
  • Participate in a team environment that fosters welding and fabrication skills
  • Act as a SAFE team member who is accountable, respectful, and empowering
  • Plan work order procedures; gather required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications
  • Repair and fabricate various items and equipment using cutting, burning, and welding techniques and equipment
  • Monitor the welding, burning, and fitting process to prevent overheating or damage
  • Prepare, assemble, and tack weld parts and surfaces
  • Maintain, organize, and clean equipment and the work area
  • Notify supervisor of faulty equipment or defective materials
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements for the Role

  • Code Welding Experience (ASME Sec. 8/9, B31.3, AWS D1.1, AWS D17.1)

Weld Testing Requirements (3G requirement only)

  • 3G Plate Test - GMAW Vert Up on ¾ Plate (GMAW root / GMAW-P or FCAW hot and Cap)
  • 4G Plate Test - GMAW OH on ¾” Plate (GMAW root / GMAW-P or FCAW hot and Cap)

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to weld components vertically, flat, or overhead
  • Manual dexterity and stability for precision work
  • Close-range vision required
  • Able to lift up to 15 pounds at any time, 50 pounds regularly, 100 infrequently
  • Able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials
