About the role
This position supports the City Strategic Plan by safeguarding public health and safety and protecting the integrity of neighborhoods through proactive and reactive response to substandard property maintenance conditions and other locally adopted codes and ordinances.
Responsibilities
- Responding to citizen complaints on residential and commercial properties for code violations and recording results of findings
- Documenting and maintaining written records and photo documentation of property conditions
- Visually inspecting properties for compliance with all minimum property standards
- Performing or overseeing litter, trash, and debris clean-up in proscribed areas
- Applying pesticides, larvicides and other chemicals necessary to control disease-bearing mosquitoes
- Operating, maintaining and calibrating mosquito fogging trucks and equipment
- Submitting trap samples to the Texas Department of Health or Dallas County Health and Human Services
- Maintaining records of chemicals used in applications, complaints, spray areas and trap data
- Stocking and maintaining chemical inventory
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent and a valid Texas driver’s license or the ability to obtain one required
- TDA applicators license – Vector Control category, or the ability to obtain one within 12 months of employment also required
- HAZWOPER certification within 6 months of hire may be required
