Preview Proceed to Checkout Pay Later Cancel Full Time ◄ Back to All Categories Code Compliance Specialist Code Compliance Specialist: Jefferson County Public Health is hiring a Code Compliance Specialist to enforce county environmental regulations such as, septic and solid waste codes. The ideal candidate is a good communicator that is comfortable in an education and enforcement role. The person in this role will perform professional level code enforcement. This includes investigating and resolving complaints, interpreting codes, writing notices of violations and staff reports, keeping records, and appearing in hearing examiner and legal proceedings. The job requires contact with property owners and other County and Washington State departments with the objective of bringing properties into compliance with applicable codes. Minimum Qualifications: Individual needs to be able to perform this job successfully in each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements are listed on the job description, please see attached, and are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education And/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in a criminal justice, law enforcement or law related field with experience in related code compliance involving extensive public contact and field inspections/investigations. OR Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in law enforcement, paralegal or similar discipline and two (2) years related field experience in code enforcement, including direct contact with the public in an inspection or enforcement area, building, planning, or environmental sanitation, paralegal, or criminal justice position. OR Equivalent combination of education and experience. Hours & Compensation: This is a Grade 31, starting pay typically $32.98/hr. Full hourly range $32.98-$40.57/hr, DOE. UFCW, 40 hrs/wk with benefits. Full medical benefits, including dental and vision. Retirement provided through Washington State DRS. 11 paid holidays annually; three personal (floating) days; personal time off accruing at an average rate of 21 to 33 days per year based on years of service; and bereavement leave.
