About the Role

The Beverage/Cocktail Server is expected to provide timely, courteous service with guest satisfaction as the primary goal. Responsibilities include promoting specials, upselling, and ensuring a clean, welcoming lounge environment.

Responsibilities

• Be attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to all guests, managers, and fellow employees.
• Complete opening/closing checklist according to standards.
• Welcome guests, take drink orders, relay orders to the bartender, process orders, deliver drinks, and receive payment.
• Know which garnishes go in each drink.
• Process credit card and room charges.
• Clear and clean tables when guests leave; return glasses to be washed.
• Keep the lounge area clean and free from debris at all times.
• Follow all cash handling policies and prepare closing reports for night audit.
• Perform side work duties according to the schedule.
• Have full knowledge of state liquor laws and be familiar with the computer system.
• Assist the bartender in preparing drinks and setting up/breaking down hors d’oeuvres tables for cocktail hour.
• Ensure overall guest satisfaction.
• Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
• Must be of legal age to serve alcoholic beverages, according to local state laws.
• Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
• Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 pounds frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
• Ability to stand during entire shift.
• Effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
• Multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
• Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards.
• Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing the proper uniform and nametag.
• Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
• Handle problems by anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving them as necessary.
• Understand and apply complex information from various sources to meet objectives.
• Cross-train in other hotel-related areas as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality of information and show initiative in anticipating guest or operational needs.
• Perform other duties as requested by management while maintaining a friendly and warm demeanor.
