COBOL Developer

About the role

Senior level COBOL Developers will support a multi‑year project for a customer in the Dulles, VA area. The position requires on‑site work in northern Virginia and the ability to obtain a high‑level security clearance (processing may take 1–2 years). Candidates must be willing to start on‑site within 45 days of clearance completion and intend to remain employed for at least five years after receiving clearance.

Requirements

• 10+ years overall experience in an environment utilizing COBOL
• Recent (within last 5 years, preferably current) expertise in COBOL development/programming
• SQL and PL/SQL experience
• Experience in program documentation and writing procedures
• Willingness to be submitted for top‑level security clearance
• Willingness to work completely on‑site (no remote work)

Preferred qualifications

• BS degree (preferred)
• Experience supporting HR/Payroll/Financial systems
• Experience with Jira & Confluence
• Agile/Scrum experience
• Good teamwork skills
• Experience with Infor Lawson Pay

Pay

Full‑time salary range: $132,962 – $226,035. The range reflects market pay structures; individual salaries are determined by business considerations, local market conditions, internal equity, and candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.
