Cobb - Hatchery QA Inspector

Location: Siloam Springs Hatchery, Siloam Springs, AR

Schedule

Monday–Friday, subject to production needs. Typical hours are 5:00 AM until work is complete. Schedule is subject to change based on production demands.

Applicants with previous agricultural or production experience are preferred. Candidates must have at least six consecutive months of work experience with the same employer and no employment gaps exceeding six months within the last 36 months. Exceptions apply for layoffs, eldercare, childcare (18-month gap allowed), or full-time students for the last 36 months. Applicants must reside in the United States to be considered for an interview.

About the Role

This position is responsible for testing and inspecting quality and practices at all stages of chick processing. The role involves compiling and evaluating statistical data to maintain hatchery outgoing quality levels and ensure chick quality standards are met. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

• Weigh and check chick quality for each flock every hour (25% of time).
• Count by-product, 2 boxes per flock (15% of time).
• Check robots and injects for bad birds (15% of time).
• Assist in vaccine mixing/training and check vaccine inventory weekly (15% of time).
• Enter hatch summary into the computer weekly and compile/evaluate statistical data (20% of time).
• Additional duties as assigned, such as packing eggs, cleaning the vaccine lab, operating high-pressure and regular water hoses, and maintaining a clean/organized work area (10% of time).

Requirements

• Biosecure environment requiring showering and changing clothing/footwear before entering the facility (provided by the company).
• No jewelry allowed except medical ID; body piercings must be covered by clothing.
• Must sign an agreement to avoid contact with avian species (e.g., chickens, ducks, birds).
• Must sign and abide by Company Biosecurity and Animal Welfare Guidelines.
• Ability to perform physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Regularly lift and stack chick boxes (up to 12 lbs) and occasionally push/pull stacks up to 125 lbs.
• Stand and walk for the majority of the shift on concrete floors; sit, use hands, reach, balance, climb ladders, talk, hear, and drive within the farm complex.
• Vision requirements: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Work on wet, slippery surfaces and in hot, dry, dusty, wet, icy, snowy, and cold environments.
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE): safety goggles, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, rubber boots, ear plugs, and NIOSH-approved N95 respirators as needed.
• Exposure to chemicals such as disinfectants (e.g., Synergize, Lysol, bleach).
• Follow all safety policies, including Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO, and PPE. Identify, address, and mitigate safety risks.

Pay

Starting wage: $18.00 per hour, plus additional shift differential for evenings, nights, and weekends.
