About the role
The Coatings and Preservation Assistant position is available within HII's Mission Technologies division. This role is contingent upon contract award and offers opportunities for entry-level professionals to gain valuable trades and life experience.
Responsibilities
- Support PM operations at the Woodlake Fabrication Shop in Chesapeake, VA, and assist PM Trade Teams in fleet modernization.
- Perform duties related to material coatings and preservation under the direction of senior technical tradespersons.
- Assist with tasks such as supplying or holding materials and tools, cleaning working areas, machines, and equipment, and performing diverse tasks as directed.
- Support the fabrication, installation, maintenance, and repair of a wide array of systems and equipment.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid drivers license and own hand tools.
- U.S. citizenship.
- Medical clearance to wear a half-face respirator.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
Preferred Requirements
- Prior Shipboard experience.
- Previous work related to technical trades.
- Candidates with current or active DoD confidential clearance or higher.
- Related technical training, degrees, and/or certifications.
Physical Requirements
The selected candidate will display qualities such as quality, integrity, safety, respect, engagement, responsibility, and performance consistent with company values. Physical demands include standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, and operating various machinery and equipment.
