Coater Technician I - Day Crew -

Basic Job Functions

  • Safely operate and manage material and processes to manufacture high-quality, photovoltaic solar modules.
  • Conduct operational preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Address intermediate-level alarms.
  • Perform basic quality control procedures.
  • Use simple hand tools and systems during floor operations.
  • Conduct training on tasks where they have completed certification.

Education and Experience

External candidates must have:

  • A High School Diploma or GED
  • Preference for an Associate degree or certificate in a technical discipline
  • 2+ years of manufacturing experience
  • Experience in warehousing, textile, agriculture, or material inspection
  • Honorable military experience in an electrical, mechanical, or chemical industrial application

Internal candidates must have:

  • A High School Diploma or GED
  • 60 credits of internal manufacturing-related training (in module or semiconductor areas of the line)
  • Education and experience as outlined for an external candidate
  • An endorsement from direct supervisor for a promotion
  • A positive rating from direct supervisor related to Safety, Performance, Dependability, and Collaboration

  • Math skills appropriate to understand and apply Statistical Process Control (SPC) concepts
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Fundamental knowledge to work with different computer applications

  • Use mobile systems, communication devices, and simple tool interfaces
  • Ability to use simple hand tools and measurement tools
  • Perform light mechanical maintenance activities utilizing hand tools and measurement devices
  • Operate forklift and crane with proper training and certification (when required)
  • Work with cross functional teams to run approved tests
  • Provide good communication with team members and leadership during shift changes
  • Interface with equipment computers to monitor parameters and alarms
  • Maintain process control by monitoring process data (including use of SPC) and making decisions based on procedures
  • Recognize conditions that require escalation and provide good communication on issues and recommendations
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams on problem solving
  • Collect data and provide reporting (written, oral, or via computer/devices) when requested
  • Ensure proper inventory levels of materials and in-process work are available for the next shift
  • Ensure waste is discarded timely and appropriately

Essential Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all safety procedures and practice good housekeeping
  • Complete training in the required timeframe
  • Provide on-the-job training to team members when requested
  • Perform assigned job duties in accordance with training and direction provided by team leads and supervisor
  • Perform maintenance on equipment, in the required time, with hand tools and instrumentation

Physical Requirements

  • Sit, stand, or walk short distances for up to 12 hours per day
  • Climb stairs on a frequent basis
  • Lift up to 58 pounds on an occasional basis, according to work instruction
  • Lift up to 37 pounds on a frequent basis
  • Push or pull up to 27 pounds of force on an occasional basis
  • Push or pull up to 10 pounds of force on a frequent basis
